My my My my
DSYL Season 2018 Welcome Letter!

To all Dover-Sherborn Youth Lacrosse Players & Parents,

Welcome Raider Lacrosse Nation as we approach the start of the 2018 DSYL season!  The coaches are looking forward to working with the boys and to another great season of lacrosse.

Official Season Start

This spring, DSYL will field a total of 15 teams and nearly 200 boys from Grade 1 through Grade 8.  The official game start weekend for Grades 3-8 is April 7th/8th, 2018.

Grade 5, 6, 7 and 8:  Pre-season practice will begin in mid to late March, either indoors or outdoors, depending on field conditions.  As mentioned in a prior email, evaluations will be held on Monday and Tuesday, 3/19-20 at Sluggers.

Grade 3 & 4:  Pre-season practice will begin with indoor gym time in mid-March until Laurel Fields are officially opened.  There are no evaluations at this level.

Grade 1 & 2 (combined):  Pre-Season practices on Saturday mornings will start in April when Laurel Fields open. Grades 1 & 2 will begin practice together. Games will begin in mid to late April.

All players and parents should watch for upcoming email messaging from your team managers and coaches on the specifics for these indoor practices and pre-season logistics.

A general practice/game schedule is now posted on the DSYL website (www.dsyl.org; “General Practice Schedule”) and the detailed season game schedule will be up in the next few weeks.  Note that the league currently has games scheduled during the second weekend of April Break as well as Memorial Day weekend.  Please let your coach know of any conflicts on those dates as soon as possible.

Each team is assigned a team manager whom you can contact with any questions.  Managers will email with more details regarding rosters, practice times, game schedules, uniforms, etc. in the weeks ahead.

DSYL Club Community

The DS Lacrosse community should be very proud of its Youth and High School lacrosse programs, coaches, and our enthusiastic group of players. The DS Varsity team has won the Division 3 State Lacrosse Championship in 4 of the last 6 years; including 2016 when DS finished the season ranked #2 overall in Massachusetts! We’re proud to say that just about all of the players on these Championship teams began their lacrosse careers in the DSYL town program.

DSYL takes great pride in providing the foundation for sportsmanship, work ethic, skill development and a passion for the game of lacrosse that we hope will serve the boys well on and off the field as student-athletes and strong, confident young men in our community.  It is a great honor for the DSYL Board and coaches to be entrusted with this one aspect of your sons’ formative experiences.

Thank you for your continued support and active participation in DSYL.  Please do not hesitate to contact me, any board member, your coach or manager with any questions or issues you may have before and during the upcoming season.

I also want to thank all of the DSYL Club’s volunteers who dedicate so much time to the Program and our players.  The Board of Directors, coaches, team and equipment managers, communications director, and apparel designer all spend a significant amount of their time volunteering, and it is very much appreciated!  Please join me in thanking all of them, along with our Chief Operating Officer Annemarie Thompson, without whom DSYL would not function nearly as smoothly!

Best Regards,

Doug Rogers

DSYL President 2018
